6 Enchanting Movies about Magic

This article is specially written for people who are not very fond of scary and romantic movies. People who do not like seeing devils and ghosts roaming freely around the town and don’t enjoy the cheesy scenes that make them cringe their hearts out.

We are not saying that both of these genres are not worth watching, of course, everyone has their own tastes and preferences, some enjoy horror and rom-com films, while others can’t live without watching a thriller every weekend. I personally enjoy films that involve spells and magic. They fascinate me and I am sure there are a lot of people like me who crave to escape reality and enter a magical kingdom every once in a while.

  • Ella Enchanted

This movie stars everyone’s favorite Anne Hathaway who plays the role of Ella; the girl who is cursed to obey every command that is given to her by another person. Tired of this curse, she goes about searching for the fairy godmother who might have the spell that would revert the curse.

The world in Ella Enchanted is teeming with magic, from witches to elves to talking books, and the fairy godmother cliché is reimagined as something both silly and dangerous. The film truly has it all, including Heidi Klum’s cameo and many dancing numbers along with action, adventure, romance, as well as nasty stepsisters. It is mostly a coming-of-age tale about a young woman discovering how to live for herself.

  • Halloweentown

This old Disney Channel Original features a little girl and her siblings who come from a family of witches and so are transferred to Halloweentown. What is Halloweentown? An alternate universe ruled by paranormal creatures from all levels of existence, residing together in peace and harmony.

You will find all kinds of ghosts, witches, warlocks, werewolves, and random skeletons walking around the town. The first movie gives you all the chills and manages to stand the test of time.

Debbie Reynolds and Kimberly J. Brown excellently portray both Aggie, the children’s estranged grandmother, and Marnie, the young apprentice witch respectively. Halloweentown is a sure bet if you’re looking for an entertaining holiday-themed film with oddball characters, vibrant sets, and some spooky but not too spooky thrills.

  • Vampire Academy

This kingdom really fascinates them and introduces them to countless magnificent creatures that grab their attention and lead them to their destiny.

  • Mirror Mirror

This movie features the very beautiful Lily Collins who plays the role of an orphaned princess. She is not just a simple princess but also a legal heir to the throne however; an envious, wicked queen played by the evergreen Julia Roberts plans to gain control instead.

The queen loses her cool especially when a handsome young prince played by Armie Hammer talks to her in favor of the princess also known as Snow White. She gets furious and hence decides to get rid of the princess by throwing her out into the woods to be eaten up by a terrifying beast.
